Dr. Rekha Shetty is an author, an entrepreneur and an
original thinker in Management and the Social Sciences. She is
Managing Director of Farstar Distribution Network Ltd which
consults for blue chip companies in India and South East Asia in
creativity and innovation for the last 16 years. She is the founder
of the well-known Mindspower brand and is popularly known as the
Corporate Doctor.

A PhD in the management sciences, her academic
career is studded with honours including
two university ranks. She was a member of the syndicate of 200 year
old Anna University where she introduced a 40 week optional course on
creativity for budding engineers and is also on the Board of studies
of Psychology and Management. A member of the Madras Management
Association for 5 years, she was also its Treasurer.
Author of a popular Penguin book ‘Zero Heart Attack Path’, her
second book ‘Portable
Roots’, the transcreation of a Tamil
book, has been released at the Frankfurt book fair. She started her
career with the United India Insurance Co and was Vice President of
the Apollo Hospitals Group, where she redefined services marketing
and developed original concepts.
She was the first woman President of a Rotary Club
outside of USA and Canada. Charter President of RC of Madras Temple
City, a club with an equal membership of women and men. She has
visited over 30 Rotary countries and has a wide network of friends
through whom she was helped find 70 Rotary partners for many Rotary
Districts. She won the best conference award in Zone 6 during her
Governorship for the District Conference and collected the Award at
RI Convention in Buenos Aires.
To improve vision and eradicate avoidable blindness
is her goal and she has been Avoidable Blindness Advisor to Health
Concerns Task Force of Rotary International. She is a Vice Chair of
the Prevention of Blindness Rotary Action Group and has been a global
director of the Rotarian Action Group for Population and Development.
She was invited by the US State Department to be part of an expert
team from 10 countries to study the problems and solutions to drug
addiction. She has been awarded the Outstanding Young Person Award by
Jaycees.
On the Organizing Committee of 2006 RI Convention at
Malmo–Copenhagen, she
offered and helped implement some original ideas to enable grassroots
Rotarians to participate. She has represented the RI President in
India and abroad, at several district conferences. She has been
invited to speak at conferences worldwide. She is a recipient of
Service Above Self Award and is a major donor.
She spearheaded a unique project of cleaning fifteen
2000-year-old Temple tanks. She has been involved in water resources
and part of Sustainable development and is Zone 6 Co-ordinator which
includes 10 countries in Asia.
Married to Rtn. PP. Jai Shetty and daughter of PDG. Bhoja Shetty, she has been a part of the Rotary
family for over 40 years as Rotaractor,
Annette, Anne and Rotarian. They have two brilliant engineer sons
working in the US and a daughter-in-law.
